The biggest mistake I see after "everything came back normal"
This week I was looking through a client's blood results.
Every box had a reassuring tick beside it.
Normal.
Normal.
Normal.
If you looked at those results on their own, you'd think there wasn't much else to discuss.
But she'd had three miscarriages.
That's the problem with the word normal.
It tells you where each result sits compared with a reference range.
It doesn't always tell you whether it's optimal for creating and supporting a healthy pregnancy.
Those are two different conversations.
This is something I see all the time.
Women leave appointments relieved for about five minutes.
Then another thought appears.
"If everything is normal...why am I still here?"
It's an incredibly lonely place to be.
Because you almost feel guilty asking more questions.
Everyone has reassured you.
But reassurance hasn't changed the outcome.
That's why I spend so much time looking at the whole picture.
Blood markers don't exist in isolation.
Neither do symptoms.
Neither does your history.
Your previous pregnancies matter.
Your lifestyle matters.
Your gut health matters.
Your nutrient stores matter.
Sometimes every individual result looks acceptable.
It's only when you step back that the pattern becomes obvious.
That's why preparation isn't about collecting more tests.
It's about understanding what your results actually mean together.
If you've ever walked away from an appointment feeling more confused than reassured, you're not imagining it.
Sometimes the missing piece isn't another test.
It's someone willing to connect the dots.
If you've been told everything is "normal" but you're still left wondering what you're missing, it may be time to look at the whole picture.
